Alumni News
In the Spotlight!!
This feature/profile is the second in our series of Alumni news and information. As we continue to march along in finding, and staying in touch with each other, this month we feature the accomplishments of Mr. Paul White.
During the eighties there were few defense men on the soccer field that intimidated opponents the way Paul did. When we think of some of the defenders that come to mind during that period, David “Rambo” McCrea, Curtis “Big Reds” Limptom and Buzz (from the 1981 championship team) come to mind. Paul is definitely among the best that the school saw during this decade. His strong presence on the back line on the 1985 team saw victory coming to the “College” (the second to last time the College won Manning Cup).
His football journey for the purple and white started with the Pepsi Cup, then he continued his progress onto the Colts level and finally the ultimate level of the Manning Cup and Oliver Shield. His accomplishments included:
1. Playing for three (3) Manning Cup teams
2. Playing on the victorious 1985 Manning and Oliver Shield teams
3. Played on the All Manning Cup team
His talent on the soccer field saw him graduating from the “College” in 1988, and his skills were definitely noted by scouts from overseas. To that end, he was awarded a football (soccer) scholarship to Tiffin University. His exploits at Tiffin University simply kept his momentum; that was generated at the “College” going. His accomplishments while at Tiffin included:
1. Played all four years as a first string starter.
2. Three of the four years he was selected to the All Conference Team
3. Three of the four years he was selected to the All Regional Team
4. NAIA All American his senior year in college
In 1992, he graduated from Tiffin University with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Marketing and Management, and embarked upon his professional career.
For the last twelve (12) years, he has been a successful realtor in the city of New York. Just like his soccer prowess on the field, he has parlayed that same tenacity into his professional career. He is a member of the National Association of Realtors, a member of the President’s Club, and also a member of the 100% Club.
Not only is he a success at soccer and his professional career, he has brought his tenacity to another arena. That tenacity is to see Kingston College restored to its former glory in both athletics and academia. What you have in Paul White is a man driven to try to correct the ills that affect the “College”. With a renewed effort on motivating alumni who he is close to, he has embarked on a one-man journey to galvanize the various factions in the five boroughs of New York City to try to give back to the school. He is constantly trying to bring
the wayward ones that feel that young folk can’t make a difference at the “College” to see the errors of their thinking. We all know that if Paul brings the same level of dedication to this endeavor the way he did his soccer and professional career, only good things are going to happen for the “College” in the foreseeable future.
In spite of all the things he is involved in, he remains a devout family man. These days, you can’t find Paul anywhere without his twins (Romario and Ronaldo) in tow. Road trips all across the country have these poor boys along for the ride; many times to places they have no idea where they are. However, that is just the way their father carries himself.
He is always personable and approachable, and is always willing to help out another “College man”. If you ask any of the alumni of Kingston College in New York what they think of Paul White, it is basically guaranteed that the responses will all be positive.
Currently, Paul lives in New York City with his wife Lorna and his three children Melissa, Romario and Ronaldo. Please send him an email at the following email address: www.alex949@earthlink.net
